The Ventures issued two versions, both in Japan, the earlier of these giving off a rather relentless air and somehow lacking the sparkle of the UK approach (see [27] on The Shadows’ ‘Japanese’ set), a sparkle accentuated rather than undermined by a certain amount of studio trickery in the way of multi-tracking etc. The 1981 recasting though more than compensates with a much more adventurous arrangment: a beautifully expressive half-minute intro, admirably-phrased lead guitar lines, a sprightly rhythm accompaniment, nicely undulating bass and subtle keyboard support.
