THE SHADOWS ON RADIO LUXEMBOURG

MIDNIGHT
(Hank Marvin/ Bruce Welch)

The RL version (preserved with a frivolous introduction by Cliff: "Continuing in a quieter vein as they say, Mr Hank B Marvin – well known toadstool expert and brass curtain-ring grower – assumes his position for the soothing ……") is a little different in performance (slightly more animated) from the standard 45 B-side recorded in October 1960 and released in February 1961. One audio source indicates that it was featured in an undated show comprising We Say Yeah, Sweeter Than You, MIDNIGHT, Without You and Willie Did The Cha-Cha, the first of these numbers appearing on record only at the very end of 1961. The listings for the last series have MIDNIGHT down as broadcast at the very end of 1962 (30 December). As other tunes performed that night are not the same as in the set above, MIDNIGHT was featured at least twice (it was performed twice on BBC Radio, June 1961 and January 1963) in the course of the 'Me And My Shadows' run.
