CERVEZA
(Milton Rogers aka Boots Brown)

CERVEZA, a version of which had been recorded by Cherry Wainer while in the Jack Good stable, is musically (and generally accepted as) a precursor to 36-24-36 and it was probably taped for RL up to a year before the latter's recording date of late May 1961. Introduced by Cliff as "a Latin type number with a rock beat", and in general circulation on the Italian sister CD to Atlantis (see BARNEY'S BLUES) Dakota, this is one of the few Luxembourg recordings that can boast reasonably good reproduction with a minimum of extraneous noise. There is another version, recorded for BBC's 'Saturday Club' of 1 October 1960, together with a different introduction by Cliff ("… they'd like to give you their version of CERVEZA"): an almost complete copy is in circulation, not exactly crystal-clear but more than adequate to lay bare elements that would crop up in the more developed and sophisticated flipside of KON-TIKI, though the continuous clapping from 0:35 on does it no favours.
