From: Shadsfax Issue 48 (2005) 3–4

The Shadows
"The Shadows At Abbey Road"
Disky S1 901 602
Released January 2004 (dated 2003)

Guitar Tango/ Theme From The Boys /Wonderful Land / Atlantis/ Gonzales/ Witch Doctor/ It’s Been A Blue Day/ What A Lovely Tune/ All Day/ Razzmataz/ Nothing, Folks / No No Nina/ John’s Rocker / Don’t Stop Now / God Only Knows / Slaughter On 10th Avenue / Benno-San / Zero X Theme / Thunderbirds Theme / Scotch On The Socks / Tennessee Waltz / Chitty Chitty Bang Bang / Don’t Cry For Me Argentina

This is the CD all Shadsfaxers know and love, but a straight clone is avoided by the simple expedient of changing the running-order quite radically. Disky has done the same, rather less aptly, with a further recent release, Cliff & The Shadows “The Young Ones” (S1 901 615C). Both have different artwork. The idea here seems to have been to capture for posterity one of the group’s rare outdoor venues, just before they were moved on for obstructing the traffic and for unauthorised use of the public electricity supply. The excellent booklet of the original with notes by Rob Bradford was not part of the licensing seal with EMI: instead we are served up with the kind of scrappy front insert typical of budget products. Conclusion: as nearly always, original is best.
