Not all that long ago the prospects of unearthing The Shadows' classic FBI in true stereo from a high quality master looked distinctly bleak. But it's here at last as the closing track of a fascinating set. To acquire it you don’t have to buy it with a couple of dozen other Shadows tracks that you’re bound to have already. There are a further 27 tracks from a wide range of artistes such as The Fentones and The Krew Kats, judiciously chosen as one would expect from an acknowledged expert on the instrumental genre; four of them see their first release here. The booklet is a model of its kind, packing a phenomenal amount of detail into its 16 glossy and handsomely illustrated pages. It's good to hear that further collections are planned.
