REVIEWS: NEW GANDY DANCER

This is the best and most important book (rather than magazine) ever published in the UK about The Ventures. In 563 entries – album tracks of every LP The Ventures issued in the 60s, including Japanese, UK, European and USA – we get a review by Malcolm and others of each of these tracks with worthwhile background information from Dave Burke on the recordings themselves. It’s a history and commentary on so much stuff (50 albums +) and background on producers and musicians involved. With 350 illustrations as well – LP sleeves and band photographs – this is a superb read for the dark winter months ahead. It is interesting to read other people’s views on your favourite tracks. No one agrees all the time, and therein lies one of the assets of this stunning companion to Malcolm’s popular Shadows pocket books. We are pleased to be selling copies of a bargain which is, as a limited edition, not to be missed. ****
