This is an essential purchase for the dedicated fan, trianspotter and casual fan alike. In fact, anyone at all interested in guitar music at its best.
Checking out all the different sections in the book, discovering or even re-discovering long forgotten facts is a delight. Malcolm in updating his original book now has a co-author Les Woosey. Between them they have produced the essential guide and reference work on The Shadows, Hank Marvin and Marvin, Welch & Farrar. There are complete A-Z listings for every recorded title, information on session dates and group personnel, chart performance, release dates, alternate versions, ‘first stereo’ releases — even numbers recorded with Cliff are included. The list is endless, yet a joy to read. The whole book is a sheer delight, a voyage of discovery where the reader is guaranteed not to be disappointed.
Generously filled with photographs — there are even some from the 2004 tour, as well as album cover photos. I was very lucky to have a copy of Malcolm’s original book. Now Malcolm and Les between them have produced what is sure to be the essential guide and reference for all fans and music lovers alike. Congratulations to Malcolm and Les on such an excellent book.
